The Leander Police Department's Trunk-or-Treat event is a community project where the police department and the community partner to provide a safe, fun, family friendly alternative to door to door trick-or-treating. Last year was our fifth year, and we had a huge turnout! We are hoping that our event will be even bigger this year! We are asking that attendees bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Blue Santa if they are able. Since Halloween is on a Tuesday this year and it is our 6th year, we will be unable to host this event in our Police Department Parking lot as we have done in the past. The location for the 2017 event is currently pending, but will be announced here and on Facebook soon.
This event includes different car clubs in the area (generally including classic cars, modified cars, or rare cars) that decorate their cars, dress up in costumes, and hand out candy to children. We also have police cars, fire engines, and other emergency services vehicles for the children to look through, some small games for the kids, costume competitions, awards and raffles for the car participants, and some snacks for the families. The event runs from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM the night of Halloween (Tuesday, October 31st).
