A new music video for the upcoming film The Runaways has been released today, continuing the promotion of this aggressively sexy movie about children (teenagers) singing aggressively sexual songs to throngs of adults. It's a true story, so it's okay.
If Ridley Scott is doing one thing with his upcoming period action film Robin Hood, it is historical accuracy. Because in those days -- I say "those days" because I don't have time to Wikipedia the particular time period that Robin Hood may have lived like other movie bloggers -- everyone was, in fact, a total badass.
Imagine "Three O'Clock High" with Koreans. Only instead of a bully threatening to beat you up at the end of the day, you're worried about a murderer trying to kill you before the end of class.
We wish a Happy Birthday to the one, the only, the mover of the Earth, Chuck Norris, who turns 70 today.
A charming big city advertising man is brought back home by the death of his father, forcing him to reconnect with the family and town he left behind long ago. Sure, this premise sounds used and familiar, but it's the execution that will matter. And if there's anything I've gathered from the trailer for Lebanon, Pa., from director Ben Hickernell, is that there's something interesting about this rendition of the "coming home" story.
Christopher Nolan is talking. He's talking about Superman, Batman and everything in between. But even though the words are coming out, he's still not really saying anything substantial -- not giving fans anything more than confirmation that their salivation over his continued involvement with either property was not for nothing.
At this point, I feel like I'm making fun of this entire process. Perhaps I'm just trying to point out the absurdity of this marketing ploy -- the releasing of a ten-second teaser that is teasing a teaser trailer which will go online tomorrow. It's a little much, for any movie. The fact that it's Twilight: Eclipse only makes it easier for the comment section below to get a little rowdy.
Today is the 70th anniversary of a great day in our history, as you should very well know by now. If you don't, I believe one of Chuck Norris' beard hairs is going to impregnate your mother as penance for forgetting his birthday. On this day in 1940, Chuck Norris was born in Ryan, Oklahoma. And in honor of this great man's date of birth, I'm using Movies We Love to celebrate one of my favorite tour de Chucks -- Sidekicks.
Just over a year ago, we talked to producer/actor Scoot McNairy about an interesting science fiction film shot without a script. A mumblecore action movie, if you will. Today, we get to preview that exact movie as part of our look ahead to this year's SX Fantastic line-up.
I've always known that there's something wrong with filmmaker Harmony Korine. If you've seen either Mister Lonely or Gummo, you have an idea of what I'm talking about. The talent is certainly there -- and so is the weird. Both seem to be coming out in the film he's brought to SXSW 2010, Trash Humpers.
