Here's something a little different. The folks at First Look Studios, a studio that seems to be getting edgier with their release slate every day, has provided us with an exclusive first look at their upcoming DVD release Suicide Girls: Guide to Living, which is no doubt full of fancy tips on how to be extremely productive while having lots of tattoos and being naked all the time.
It seems fitting that just a day after Jeff Bridges won a very deserved victory on Oscar night, for his performance in Crazy Heart, that we find ourselves in the possession of the trailer for Tron Legacy, a movie that is not likely to earn him a Best Actor nomination. However, if this trailer tells us anything, it's that this damn movie is going to be very cool.
In a manner of speaking, it is perfectly acceptable for someone like Tony Stark to upstage the Oscar ceremonies -- it fits with his modus operandi perfectly. And while I will accept the fact that Tony Stark is a fictional character played by Robert Downey Jr. and the Academy Awards are very (mostly) real, the assessment still stands: this brand new Iron Man 2 trailer, which debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live this evening, is far more exciting than the Oscars.
It may just be me, but the first several moments of this brand new Legend of the Guardians trailer -- the new animated film from director Zack Snyder -- feels a lot like 300. Super slow-motion and angry warrior faces. All that's missing is the voice of Gerard Butler screaming "This is Ga-HOOLE!" while one owl kicks the other one down a pit of despair. That doesn't exactly happen, but some other cool stuff certainly does.
Walt Disney Pictures has released the second full trailer for the upcoming video game adaptation Prince of Persia, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton and Sir Ben Kingsley. This new trailer provides a bit of new footage, but mixes it with healthy helpings of previously seen footage. New or old, it all seems to be cut together in a way that makes this film feel exciting, even grand.
Warner Bros. has released a brand new behind the scenes featurette for the upcoming mythology-based adventure Clash of the Titans, from The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier. This new look provides a few new shots from the film, as well as some on-set B-roll footage and a few comments from cast members like Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton and Ralph Fiennes.
Here's a nice way to finish out our week and send you off into the weekend -- with a short exclusive clip from the Sundance graduate Toe to Toe, from director Emily Abt. It's a film about an unlikely pair of girls at an upscale prep school, both of whom show promise on the lacrosse field. Both of whom have problems off the field.
Warner Bros. and MySpace have released the second trailer for the upcoming horror remake A Nightmare on Elm Street, which stars Jackie Earle Haley as the iconic dreamscape killer Freddie Krueger. Just as any great horror trailer tends to do, this one opens with something quite shocking -- quiet, spooky calm, then BAM! It gets me every time. But I'm a gigantic wimp. Hopefully you will hold up better, as this trailer runs over two minutes long and definitely brings some terror.
Sony Pictures has released the full theatrical trailer for their upcoming reboot, The Karate Kid, starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. And while this trailer does look like it might eventually turn into a movie worth of the moniker, I can't help but feel as if The Kung Fu Kid might have been a more appropriate title for the film.
First Look Studios has provided Film School Rejects with an exclusive first look at the Ninja, in the form of this awesome fight scene that takes place in the rain. This Scott Adkins-led film appears to kick some serious ass, if this clip is to be believed. And it is. We checked. It really did come from the film.
