HILTON DIAMOND CHEF GIVES DEAF STUDENTS OPPORTUNITY TO SHINE 

FUNDRAISING EVENT SUPPORTS WORK AND COLLEGE READINESS PROGRAMS FOR TEXAS STUDENTS WHO ARE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING

 

WHAT:              Presented by the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) Foundation – KICK UP YOUR HEELS for TSD’s 7th Annual Diamond Chef’s Gala – a student prepared, multi-course banquet with wine pairings, silent and live auctions, and “Boots & Bling” themed fun. 

Hilton Diamond Chef, Mark Dayanandan, gives a select group of TSD culinary students the opportunity to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime experience in the back of the house of the renowned Hilton-Austin – working alongside Dayanandan on his signature, locally sourced, gourmet creations for more than 200 special guests. 

The annual Diamond Chefs Gala showcases the talents of TSD students and celebrates the rich history of TSD’s 150+ years of providing an exemplary education, tools and experiences to Texas’ students, ages 0-22, who are deaf and hard of hearing. 

Proceeds will support the Texas School for the Deaf, and the approximate 5,000 deaf and hard of hearing Texas children, their families, professionals, and the networks of support that hold us all together.

Carry the Load-Austin on

Reveille Peak Ranch is honored to host Carry the Load-Austin on May 25 to help celebrate a meaningful Memorial Day through a 20.13-mile event honoring veterans and active duty service members, law enforcement officers, firefighters and their families. Teams will walk and “carry the load” in honor of fallen or injured heroes while raising funds to support local nonprofits working with veterans and their families. The event will also showcase the military, law enforcement and firefighting readiness capabilities of the State of Texas in a live demonstration. Learn more and get involved at http://rprtexas.com/2012/10/may-25-carry-the-load/

Free Career Training For Texas Veterans

The National Notary Association is offering free career training to all Texas Veterans at its annual Conference in Austin on Monday, June 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Austin Renaissance Hotel.  The Veterans have the option of taking two free courses that can prepare them for a part-time or full-time career as a Notary Public. Pre-registration and proof of Veteran status required. LOCAL ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER HOSTS 5th ANNUAL BOWL-A-THON

Texas Humane Heroes Hosts 5th Annual Bowl-a-thon Fundraising Event!

Texas Humane Heroes, formerly known as the Humane Society of Williamson County, invites community members to join in the fun at the 5th Annual Bowl-a-Thon fundraising event on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 1:00 - 4:00pm, held at Mel’s Lone Star Lanes in Georgetown, TX. The goal of this family-fun event is to raise life-saving funds in an effort to end pet homelessness throughout Central Texas.

 

Bowlers are encouraged to register in advance at www.TexasHumaneHeroes.org/bowl. Register as an individual for $25 or for a 4-person team and save! Registration includes three games of bowling, shoe rental, team and door prizes, and much more fun all for a great cause. A large silent auction and a raffle for a new Kindle Fire HD will also be hosted at the event for more fundraising opportunities.

 

“We are so excited to host our 5th Annual Bowl-a-Thon as this event has always been such a great success and the perfect summer activity to beat the heat!” said Eran Fehily, Director of Community Relations and Development. “In addition to this fun, community event, there are great sponsorship opportunities for local businesses to gain great marketing exposure all while supporting a terrific cause!”

Texas Humane Heroes Background Information

The mission of Texas Humane Heroes is to provide innovative programs and services to eliminate pet homelessness and to improve the lives of pets and people throughout Central Texas. Formerly known as the Humane Society of Williamson County (HSWC) and the CenTex Humane Society Second Chance Adoption Center, the organizations combined resources and merged into Texas Humane Heroes on in January 2013. Supporting two adoption centers in Central Texas, Texas Humane Heroes has locations in Leander and Killeen, Texas. The Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer is the largest fundraiser and awareness event for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Organized by local Chapter volunteers, this event celebrates our survivors, remembers those that we have lost to ovarian cancer and increases awareness about ovarian cancer. Registration includes a t-shirt and access to activities the day of t event. Pledges and donations are welcome to help us reach our goal of $75,000, but are not required. Registration is now open for all! Whether you want to run or walk while enjoying a day at the park, we hope you will come support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Family participation is encouraged, as it is never too early for children to learn about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer and it is a disease that affects the whole family.
