Just as the Beatles’ White Album turns 50 years old next month, CBS’s 60 Minutes sat down with Sir Paul McCartney to talk about the recording of Abbey Road, the Beatles’ break up story, and personal insecurities he currently works through as one of the most famous artists in the world. This reflective interview gives insight on untold stories of a band who paved the way of pop music. McCartney reminisces on writing “Strawberry Fields” and taking the iconic Abbey Road album cover photo. When talking about slowing down and being content with the history he has made this far, McCartney answers “I would like to think I could do that. But I think it would be boring and I think I’d sort of give up trying. And I quite like that I don’t think I’ve done well enough yet.” With no intention of stopping anytime soon, 76-year-old McCartney is still performing live music today. On Friday of weekend one and two at Austin City Limits Festival, see musical legend Paul McCartney at the American Express stage.
Along with watching your favorite artists on stage at Austin City Limits Festival, throughout the upcoming weekends, fans can head over to the Waterloo Records artist signings tent to meet some of the performing bands. On Sept. 30, Waterloo Records tweeted a picture of their signings schedule which includes bands such as Paul McCartney, Metallica, and David Byrne. While some artists will only be present on specific weekends, the schedule specifies who will be at the tent and when. Be sure to take a break from the crowds and spend time chatting with your favorite artists this weekend at Austin City Limits Festival. The Waterloo Records signings tent is located directly next to the Barton Springs West entrance. Follow @WaterlooRecords for updates and changes to the schedule.
