Happy Tom Petty Day! Earlier this week Austin mayor Steve Adler signed a proclamation declaring October 20th as a day of remembrance for rock legend Tom Petty, who would have celebrated his 67th birthday today. Music fans around the world were shocked earlier this month when Petty tragically lost his life on October 2nd, after suffering a full cardiac arrest.

Since his passing, countless artists have been sharing their love and appreciation for Tom Petty and the influence he's had on their music by performing covers of his most-loved songs. One such artist was The Killers, the ACL headliners who surprised fans last week with a secret performance on South Congress' historic Continental Club where they performed a cover of "American Girl".

Do you think they did the song justice? Check out the audience footage of their performance below!
