Metallica Will Receive the Music' Version of a Nobel Prize

Metallica will receive the Polar Music Prize this spring. It's essentially the Nobel Prize for music and recognizes international excellence.

This award comes with about $126,000, which isn't much to these guys, so they're doing something good with it. The band is donating the money to their All Within My Hands organization, which helps communities in need with workforce education, food-bank donations, and other local services.

Previous winners of the award include some of BOB's favorites: Sting, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, and Paul McCartney.
