Happy Birthday, Austin! Come wish your favorite city a happy 179th birthday at Republic Square Park, where Austin’s first land auction took place back in 1839! This all-day event is free, open to all ages, pet-friendly and will host live music acts, fun family activities, tons of ATX eats, and much more from open to close! Chocolate + Beers = Cheers! National Beer Day is this weekend, and in honor of the special occasion, Delysia Chocolatier is hosting a free tasting of their finest, lager-inspired treats. 11 AM | Travis County Expo Center
The Austin Pet Expo is a “woofing, chirping and meowing good time for the whole family!” Bring your furry friends for some delicious treats and "spa treatments" from local groomers. Moms and Dads can learn pet-care tips from top Austin trainers and animal welfare organizations. Other activities include an agility demonstration, pet talent and costume shows, and an exciting pet/owner look-alike contest, plus adorable and adoptable animals showcased by area non-profit rescue groups! 10 AM | Bass Concert Hall
NYC is coming to Austin this weekend at Bass Concert Hall with Landmarks’ tour of art on loan from the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The collection, which features “striking examples of postwar and contemporary sculpture from influential artists,” is completely free, open to all ages, and sure to dazzle. More info here.
