Random Facts about July 25
When you woke up this morning, you were probably thinking "it's Tuesday, no big deal!" Well, I'm here to tell you today, July 25, is a very big deal in random history.
On this day, in 1980, the world was introduced to "Caddyshack." The all-time golf comedy film taught us about booze, raunch, and the hilarity an unwrapped Baby Ruth can bring. Another cool fact about the movie is that the comedic gold from Bill Murray that still has us in tears was shot in just 6 days and all of his lines—including his Dalai Lama speech—were improvised on-the-spot.
Exactly one decade later on this day, Roseanne grabbed her crotch while singing her own special version of the "Star-Spangled Banner" at a San Diego Padres game. As we all remember, she was booed and has since gone down in history as one of the worst performances of that song.
And finally, Austin's very own Lance Armstrong took home his first Tour De France title. As we all later learned, the 1999 Tour was intended to be a major victory for Armstrong, a cancer survior, but as reports revealed, that victory was largely in part because of a blood-boosting agent EPO and the steroid hormone testosterone.
