The breakout star of the latest Toy Story movie, Forky, is created from trash and shows that with a little imagination, anything can be a toy! But unfortunately, the real life Forky toy might end up back in the trash.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, joined with Disney, has recalled the Forky 11 plush toy due to its googly plastic eyes being a potential choking hazard to small children.
In the film, Forky is created from various disposed of arts and crafts, a few of which being googly plastic eyes. Voiced by Tony Hale, the character continuously claims he is “trash” and attempts to dispose himself properly throughout the film, a sad foreshadowing for the real life Forky 11 plush toy.
The U.S. Agency stated “Consumers should immediately take the recalled toy away from children and return it to any Disney Store retail location, Walt Disney World, or Disneyland Resort theme park retail store location for a full refund”.
So far 80,000 of the forky toys have been sold in the U.S., with 650 also sold in Canada. No serious injuries have been reported stemming from the toy.
