It’s Wednesday, August 15th, and that means it’s time check out a few pieces of BOB’s knowledge of what’s happened on this day!
Here’s a concert that BOB wishes he had been able to attend alongside Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and about 56,000 other people packed into Shea Stadium for a Beatles concert which was, at that time, the largest single crowd to attend a rock ‘n roll show. The Beatles’ set was only 35 minutes long but it didn’t matter. The music was drowned out by the screams of randy pubescent teeny-boppers.
4 years later, across the pond and here in the US, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair opened for three groovy days at Max Yasgur’s farm in Bethel, New York. Over 400,000 people peacefully attended.
Fast forward to a time when a little R’n’B boyband known as Boyz II Men started a 13 week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with “End Of The Road.” The group’s first US No.1 broke the 36-year-old record held by Elvis for the longest run at No.1.
